THE focus in the lead-up to Andy Murray’s first match at Wimbledon overnight was on the world number one’s niggling hip pain.
But when the ace took to the famed court, attention shifted to someone else entirely — the polka dot-clad Duchess of Cornwall in the stands, sporting a brand new hair do.
Kate, the 35-year-old wife of Prince William, caused a frenzy when she arrived at the tournament, her first time as a royal patron, with what style watchers have dubbed a ‘lob’.
For those playing along at home, a ‘lob’ is a long bob, or just hair as it was once colloquially known.
According to AP, the Duchess wore a Dolce & Gabbana dress paired with a Victoria Beckham handbag, Bulgari shades and a pair of Office black sandals.
That look was complemented with Oscar de la Renta earrings.
Her attendance comes just weeks after it was revealed she was once banned from Wimbledon by her doctor, because she was on bed rest.
It was 2013 and she was eight months pregnant with first child Prince George when she was asked to go along but her doctor told her “definitely not”, she explained in a BBC documentary.
“I was very heavily pregnant. I wrote to him [Murray] afterwards saying sorry for not being there,” she said.

While Murray was in full flight down below — he easily won against 20-year-old Russian newcomer Alexander Bublik — Kate was seen cheering along enthusiastically.
After the match, she toured the ground and met with ball boys and girls who will be working during Wimbledon, which kicked off overnight and will run for two weeks.
She also spoke to some former tennis stars, Kim Clijsters and Martina Navratilova.
Kate was recently made the patron of the All England Tennis Club which is where Wimbledon is held every year.
Also in attendance was Murray’s glowing wife Kim, who is pregnant with the couple’s second child, and a host of celebrities including Pixie Geldof and Sir Cliff Richard.
