The Western Bulldogs can expect another week of questions about their premiership defence after a 57-point loss to Melbourne.
Coming off a 46-point demolition against the Swans, the Bulldogs were hoping to rebound against the Demons, but were outplayed from start to finish by a rampaging Demons side en route to a 17.11 (113) to 8.8 (56) victory.
The reigning champions only had momentum on their side for one brief stretch in the second quarter as the game devolved into fight club.
No-one was surprised when the game graduated from scrappy to fiery with half-time looming after Tom Bugg had fired a warning shot on social media.

Before the game, Bugg posted an Instagram story alongside Jack Watts asking Dogs defender Jason Johannisen if he was ready for what was coming his way.
Johannisen had endured a nightmare of a game in last week’s 46-point loss to the Swans, but things did not get much better for him or the team on Sunday.
After kicking the first point of the game, the Dogs did not get on the board again until the second quarter and finally kicked their first goal since the third quarter of the previous round with the Demons already leading by 33 points.
That Caleb Daniel major kicked off a run 10-minute run that saw the Dogs peg back two more goals through Luke Dahlhaus and Marcus Bontempelli amid a host of spot fires all around the ground.
But any momentum was halted when Watts booted a major heading into half-time and he added another to start the scoring after the long break.
The hits kept on coming for the Dogs, with antagonist Bugg helping himself to a pair of goals later in the quarter, before Tom McDonald potted one after the siren to push the three-quarter-time lead out to a whopping 50 points.
Liam Picken kicked off the final-quarter scoring, but it was not a sign of things to come, with the Demons eventually trotting to a dominant win.
