Four cars in Perth have been inspected by forensic police officers after they were discovered with damage consistent with gunshots.

Police said they were alerted to the bullet-hole damage early on Saturday morning and spent most of the day investigating the scene on Beechboro Road North in Beechboro near Whiteman Park.

It was believed the damage occurred between 6:30am and 8:00am.

Police said no-one was injured and they were working with a number of witnesses.

Road blocks were put in place around the scene and motorists have been told to avoid the area.

Police said the examination by forensic officers may take some time.
