Darwin mayor ballot paper decided

ALMOST 300 people have nominated for the upcoming Northern Territory council elections.

Positions in 43 wards will go to a vote at the end of this month.

Positions in a further 15 wards were finalised on Friday as candidates stood unopposed.

The position of Lord Mayor of Darwin will be hotly contested with 15 people nominating for the job.

Among the candidates were current Lord Mayor Katrina Fong Lim, alderman Mick Palmer, a former CLP Minister, and former Labor Minister Kon Vatskalis.

Both Ms Fong Lim and Mr Palmer denied they had worked out any preference deals with other candidates.

It is believed five candidates have ties to OneTerritory.

The full list of mayoral candidates and the order they will appear on the ballot paper is:
