Driver critical after South West crash


A MAN is fighting for life in hospital after his car slammed into a tree on a South West highway in wet conditions on Saturday morning.

The 31-year-old man was airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital after the crash on the Forrest Highway in Binningup, between Mandurah and Bunbury, about 8.30am.

He is listed as being in critical condition.

The driver was the only person in the Ford Laser sedan. Firefighters were called to the scene to free the trapped driver, as well as the RAC Rescue Helicopter to fly him to RPH.

The Forrest Highway was closed after the crash but has since reopened.
