House Rules split: ‘My worst nightmare’

HOUSE Rules ‘battlers’ Troy and Bek blamed the pressures of the reality show for the disintegration of their relationship during the reality series.
Tensions between the Western Sydney couple reached boiling point during the renovation of WA twins Andrew and Jono’s “geek palace”.

Bickering over everything from patterns on quilt covers to the colour of cabinets, the couple decided it was best if Troy continued the renovation alone, as Bek withdrew from the challenge.

Choking back tears, Bek declared her “relationship with Troy and I [as] over.”

“My dream has turned into my worst nightmare. It’s pretty gut-wrenching to know that when the show finished we were going to start our lives together and now that’s not going to happen.”

Devastated by her relationship’s demise, Bek appeared constantly teary.

However it took a further full day on-site alone to push ‘man’s man’ Troy to breaking point.

In his stoic on-camera interviews, painter Troy said: “it’s tough not having Bek here on site. Bek’s everything, she’s everything to me, I love everything about her.”

“This is a side I didn’t want anyone to see,” he said, wiping away tears.

The night before Bek’s no-show, the account manager slept alone and explained to producers they were now in “separate rooms”.
“Building a house in seven days puts a massive amount of strain on any relationship. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been together for 20 years, you’re in each other’s face 24/7. We don’t actually live together, we’ve never actually spent this amount of time together,” she explained.

Bek said she had considered the pressures of the show but believed their relationship would be able to withstand them.

“I thought Troy and I would be strong enough to work through it and that we’re better people.

There’s no communication whatsoever between troy and I,” she revealed.
“I just want to re-wind time and start again.”

House Rules airs Sunday at 7pm and Monday-Wednesday at 7.30pm on Seven.
