Man arrested after police shooting in rural Victoria

Police have arrested a man in Cornishtown, northern Victoria, following a police shooting after he allegedly threatened them with a firearm.

It is believed police were initially called to the rural property about 8:00pm on Sunday night in relation to a domestic violence incident involving an axe and firearm, a police spokesperson said.

A man in his 40s was shot by police after he allegedly threatened them with a gun.

The man has been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are investigating the incident.
