Police investigating a murder in the inner Perth suburb of Northbridge have taken a man into custody, days after publicly naming him as a suspect in the case.
Police said 40-year-old Daniel Carrington, who is also known as “Macka” McKenzie, handed himself in last night and was charged with the murder of 38-year-old Benjamin Terry Egan.
Mr Egan was stabbed multiple times in the chest and ribs during an argument in the early hours of Tuesday morning at short-term accommodation units in Newcastle Street, Northbridge.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics and later died from his injuries in Royal Perth Hospital.
Police appealed for Carrington, who is homeless, to contact them on Tuesday as they investigated Mr Egan’s death.
Carrington is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today.
