A 27-year-old man who was the victim of a one-punch attack at a Western Australian hotel has died in hospital.
Jason Goodwin, from Mandurah, died in Royal Perth Hospital yesterday.
He was allegedly assaulted while playing pool at the Silver Sands Tavern in Mandurah eight days ago.
Family and friends have taken to social media to express their grief.
“Very sad to see such a young life lost in such crazy circumstances. It is a surreal day and a very shocking day,” Jared Aviet wrote.
“This is why all you big shots who like to threaten people with violence, do u really want to be responsible for killing someone?” Danya Reweti wrote.
“That’s why I teach my kids that walking away makes you the bigger person.”
According to his Facebook page, Mr Goodwin had worked as a chef for Hays Australia, having studied an apprenticeship at Charles Darwin University.
It said he was originally from Alice Springs.
A GoFundMe page has raised more than $1,000 for his medical costs.
A 27-year-old man from Madora Bay has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm, but police say the charge may be upgraded.
