A WA punter has proved that the house doesn’t always win – walking out of Perth’s Crown casino in the early hours of Sunday $2.7 million richer.
On the same weekend as another local gambler squandered $99,000 on a beaten favourite at Belmont, this poker player enjoyed a rather more enjoyable night out.
The win came around 3am Sunday in the $15 Progressive Poker jackpot at Crown.
The amount of the jackpot matches that won by a another Perth poker player, Nigel, in the $10 progressive game in September of last year.
The jackpot is won when a player collects a Royal flush – the best possible hand in a standard game of poker, with the five cards (10, jack, queen, king and ace) all being of the same suit.
There was no Lotto luck for WA over the weekend, as the $4 million Saturday Lotto draw delivered two division one wins for the eastern states.
Thursday’s Powerball draw has jackpotted to a $15 milion prize pool, with Lotterywest continuing to hunt for $700,000 winner from the previous Saturday’s draw.
The ticket was sold at the Albany Lottery, News and Gifts outlet. It remains to be seen whether the missing winner will evolve into a story to match the grandfather who went more than a year without realising he’d struck it right.
