Police search for man after crime spree

POLICE have released the name and image of a man they believe can assist with their investigation into a series of violent robberies in Champion Lakes.

Alfred Edward Krakouer, 28, remains on the run after allegedly dumping a stolen Mazda sedan in Maida Vale on Thursday afternoon.

Krakouer’s rampage began when he allegedly tried to steal a car on Tonkin Highway but was unsuccessful.

media_cameraPolice are calling on the public’s help to find Alfred Edward Krakouer, whom they believe can assist them with their investigation into robbery and wounding offences.

He then ran to a home on Barrington Avenue in Champion Lakes just after midday and allegedly threatened two women with a knife before taking off with their bags — where police say he was captured on alleyway CCTV.

A short time later, police claim he tried to carjack a man driving a dark blue Toyota sedan.

During a scuffle, the driver suffered stab wounds and was taken to hospital, according to police.

Police say Krakouer then ran to another Champion Lakes home on Strathclyde Circuit and stole a women’s handbag and keys at knife-point before making off in her silver Mercedes four-wheel-drive.

A WA police spokesman said the Mercedes was later found and Krakouer was driving a silver Mazda sedan, with the registration number 1 CUT927.

Police say he stole the car after a break in at a house, where he is believed to have found the keys to the sedan. No one was home during the break in, according to police.

That Mazda was later located abandoned in Maida Vale.

In a statement, police said Krakouer was last seen on John Farrant Drive in Maida Vale on Thursday.

They’ve warned the public not to approach him.

“Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Mr Krakouer is asked to call police immediately on 131 444,” a police spokesperson said.
