Publican makes play for Monk

THE BACHELORETTE’S Sophie Monk might have requested down-to-earth bogans as suitors, but one very rich man is hoping to win her heart.

The Saturday Telegraph can exclusively reveal that publican playboy Stu Laundy, who owns a fleet of cars and a super yacht, will appear on the show.

Laundy, son of legendary pub owner Arthur and heir to the estimated $500 million family fortune, was spotted on a group date with other bachelors at a property in Sydney’s northern suburbs of St Ives on Thursday.

This is not the first time Monk and Laundy have been linked.

The 44-year-old, who has become one of Sydney’s most eligible bachelors since splitting from his wife Rachel in 2013, previously told The Saturday Telegraph he met Monk briefly last year and set up a date on his yacht, but it fell through.

A source on set said Laundy, who was allowed to take place in the show after Monk lifted the age limit of men from 35 to 45, was so smitten with Monk at their meeting that he couldn’t miss the opportunity to throw his hat back into the ring.

“While it’s unorthodox, this seemed like the best way to meet her again,” they said.

Channel 10 refused to confirm or deny Laundy’s appearance but said it “looks forward to revealing the contestants to viewers later this year”.
